Description: Centipede is one of the most popular arcade games from the period of golden age of video arcade games. It was created by Ed Logg and Dona Bailey, and released by Atari, Inc. in 1980. The concept of the game is to eliminate centipede and other insects that descend to the direction of the player at the bottom of the screen.
You can move only left and right at the bottom of the screen and shoot towards the
centipede that descends from the top to the bottom in your direction. Each shot against the centipede creates a mushroom, while hitting the middle section of centipede creates two centipedes that move to the bottom independently with the first section becoming a new head. When that head is destroyed, the second section becomes a new head.
The centipede drops one level when hitting the edge of the screen or a mushroom which means the more mushrooms the faster the centipede advances to your direction. Mushrooms can be destroyed by shooting at them but you need to hit one four times.
In addition to destroying the centipede and all heads, you need to avoid getting hit by a spider or a flea. Scorpions do not reach the player's area but they poison the mushrooms. When hitting a poisonous mushroom the centipede hurtles towards the bottom area.
