Description: Space InvadersSpace Invaders is one of the most successful arcade games of all times. The game that was designed by Tomohiro Nishikado and published in 1978 was inspired by Breakout, an arcade game released in 1976 and science fiction movies Star Wars and The War of the Worlds. It is very simple for today's standards but it has achieved an iconic status and remains one of the most popular video games all over the world.Space Invaders is a two-dimensional shooter game the main objective of which is to destroy the descending alien formations. The player controls a laser cannon, and can move left and right at the bottom of the screen. The main goal is to shoot down the five rows of eleven aliens descending from the top of the screen.While descending the aliens try to destroy the cannon by firing projectiles. From time to time a special spaceship crosses the top of the screen which brings bonus points if destroyed. The cannon is partially protected by stationary bunkers which gradually get destroyed by the alien projectiles as well as by player if firing carelessly.The more aliens are destroyed the faster they approach to the bottom. When reaching the player's area, the game is over. Other cool games you might want to try are Raiden and Missile Command.
